Presidential candidates fails to focus on Hispanic media

MIAMI, Oct 31, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — Two thirds of Hispanic newspapers surveyed remain objective; 34 percent making endorsements, 32 percent back Sen. Barack Obama and 2 percent support Sen. John McCain.

With only days until Election Day, Hispanic Digital Network, a PR Newswire company, polled its network of U.S. Hispanic media to gauge media preferences on the election and political candidates. The results from the online media survey indicate that the majority of Hispanic print publications have not endorsed a presidential candidate. The findings also show that immigration is the key issue at stake for U.S. Hispanics in the election.

Study: Media coverage favors Obama

NEW YORK (AP) - John McCain supporters who say their guy isn’t getting a fair shake from the media have a new study to point to.

A new survey from the Center for Media and Public Affairs looked at the comments made by sources, voters, reporters and anchors that aired on ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts over the last two months. During that period, the center says coverage reflected positively on Barack Obama 65 percent of the time, while McCain got favorable coverage only 31 percent of the time.

Time Inc. plans about 600 layoffs
